COGNATES

Are two terms, usually different languages, which possess certain phonetic similarity (as they sounds) and lexical (as written). The cognates kinship traits can be a language to another, or form the influence of language on other.

True cognates

They are words that are spelled similarly or sound in de two languages, and mean the same.

Examples:

Chocolate	Chocolate

False cognates

These words are written and sound similar in two different languages, but that does not mean the same.

Examples:

Question (pregunta)	Cuestión (matter of)
